Documentation

Successful nominations are those that concisely present well organized, thorough documentation about the nominee. While nominations are not judged on the technical aspects of the writing style, it is a truism that a well-written nomination is the most effective way to describe a nominee’s merit for the award. Please note that GWA produces video biographies of all honorees, so it is imperative that you include as many photos of the honoree and her life as possible, in the nomination. For example, photos of her as a child, young adult, and other points in her life and photos of her house, town, schools, family members, institutions where she worked, etc. For more information, please contact us at info@georgiawomen.org.

Assistance

Nominators are encouraged to contact their local public library, college library or the Georgia Department of Archives and History in Atlanta for assistance in researching historical data to support the nomination. The Georgia Women of Achievement staff is also available to provide general guidance.

2012 Personal Woman of Achievement

Georgia Women of Achievement recognizes women from Georgia who have made significant contributions in their fields of endeavor, impacted the lives of those around them, as well as inspired future generations to utilize their own talents. The Personal Women of Achievement distinction is to recognize and honor the countless women who make daily personal contributions to those around them and their communities.

2012 Induction Ceremony Guest Speaker

The 2012 Induction Ceremony guest speaker is Mrs. Stella Williams Bailey of Calhoun, Ga. Mrs. Bailey has spent much of her life working with individuals and especially young women teaching them self-confidence, life skills, etiquette, and interview and public speaking skills. She has written a children’s book entitled Confidence is Cool. Stella is a twice honor graduate of the University of Georgia with a Masters Degree in Family and Child Development and began her speaking career as State President of The Future Homemakers of America.
